It, looking at the scu17 manual, it could be as simple as getting the right data cable for your ft-920 which looks like maybe the similar cable for the ft-2000 class. ![]() My unit uses a mini-din cable from scu-17 to the radio. Yaesu lists with its scu-53, you need the scu-35 cable to connect it to the ft-920. However, you might run into difficulty with the data cable. After researching some in the ft-920 manual, the scu-17 would connect using the RS-232 cable with it. Yaesu lists in the FT-920 accessories an SCU-53, probably an older version of the scu-17. Research this and download the scu-17 manual from It was frustrating to get it working with my FT-450, but, once it was finally setup, it's working well. I understand that Yaesu doesn't know how to support any of the third-party software that users may employ, but they don't even provide guidelines.
